Cory Paterson scores hat-trick in Leigh rout of Whitehaven

A first-half hat-trick of tries from Cory Paterson put Leigh on their way to a 60-6 win over Whitehaven at the Sports Village which enabled them to open up a three-point lead at the top of the Kingstone Press Championship.

The Centurions led 36-0 at half-time and winger Liam Kay touched down twice after the break while Tom Armstrong, Jamie Acton, Ben Reynolds, Reni Maitua, Dane Weston and Liam Hood also scored tries and Martyn Ridyard kicked eight goals as the home side stretched their unbeaten run to 10 matches.

Former Warrington forward Glenn Riley scored Whitehaven's only try on the hour and Louis Jouffret added the goal.
