Whitehaven RL are delighted to announce that Marc Shackley has been appointed as Club Captain by head coach Carl Forster replacing Scott McAvoy who retired at the end of last season and has joined Forster and Tony Stewart on the coaching staff. Centre Chris Taylor has been appointed Vice-CaptainShackley is delighted to be captain after signing a 5 year deal after re-joining the club from Workington Town for the 2017 season making 24 appearances.

He made his second debut v Workington in the League 1 cup fixture in February.Speaking about his appointment he said " I'm chuffed, I can't wait for the season to start now. It's a great honour to be asked, its a big thing for me being my hometown club. Hopefully we can have a better year than last year and get promoted."

Carl Forster said "He is the perfect fit following Macca's retirement. He leads from the front in a game and I'm confident he will do so off the field with this responsibility. I have a good relationship with Shacks and I trust him to do the best by the players & the club. With Chris the new vice captain they can work together and be successful.
